Artist's Bio
Life after high school was either going to involve art or science. Water has been a big part of my life...growing up near Lake Michigan and paddling along the US-Canada border. Science was an easy choice if not easy path. This required extra hard work exercising the left side of my brain. I succeeded, getting a bachelors degree from Northeastern Illinois University with a double major in biology and environmental studies and a masters degree from Texas State University in aquatic biology. During the next 25 years I worked for the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The majority of my career was spent monitoring water quality in streams, rivers, bays and estuaries around Texas. Now it's time to get back to art...and science.
My love of water translated into a common theme in most of my drawings with many ideas gathered from years of travel and work on and around water. Pen and ink/colored pencils travel well and they’re great for creating details in collage type drawings and technical illustrations. The following are examples of my work.
